The ABCs Of Training For Aggressive Dogs

A good relationship with your dogs requires commitment from you and familiarity with the basics– the ABCs. Starting your dogs early on learning obedience, saves you from future dangers and embarrassment of training for aggressive dogs.

Authority. Establish authority. Dogs are, by nature, pack animals which are ruled by a dominant figure – the alpha. He has to know that you are the leader of the pack and he must follow your commands.

Behavioral Experts should be consulted before training for aggressive dogs begins. They can assess the root of your dog's aggression and can suggest techniques for how to treat aggressive dog behavior.

Caution. Take precautionary measures when your dog is showing signs of aggression. Don't take him out in public without a leash or muzzle, as well as expose him to anxiety-inducing situations that can worsen his aggressive behavior and be a threat.

Dominance is one reason for aggressive behavior. Establish the hierarchy of the pack in your household: the dog must realize that he is in the lower order. One way of how to treat aggressive dog behavior resulting from dominance issues is to take control of all his activities including food, mealtime and playtime.
